🚨 Bellevue’s violent start to 2023
At this point in 2022, Bellevue had zero homicide cases. We already have two this year.
Both homicides appear to be targeted.
Police found a woman’s body stuffed into a plastic bin in her ex-boyfriend’s apartment at 865 Bellevue on Sunday. According to police, he stabbed her to death after a fight in Old Hickory.
A man was shot to death inside an apartment at Aventura. Police called the shooting a “drug-related robbery.”
The homicide surge in Bellevue is part of a city-wide trend. Cases have nearly doubled compared to last year, according to police data, but nearly every other type of crime is down. Violent crime dropped about three percent as of January 28.
Changing state law
Bellevue’s state Senator Heidi Campbell filed a bill last week that would require some domestic violence suspects to "carry or wear" a GPS unit as a condition of bail. You can read more about the proposal here.
Search for shooter who attacked woman walking in Green Hills
Police released video of a getaway car after a woman was repeatedly shot while walking in Green Hills.
The victim told officers two people approached her at Trimble Road and Esteswood Drive, tried to rob her, and shot her when she screamed.
Police call her injuries critical.

🍴Taziki's to open restaurant in Bellevue
According to a building permit application, the former Qdoba restaurant at 7614 Highway 70 South will be converted into a Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe.
The restaurant already has locations across Nashville. You can see the menu here.
The building permit application does not list a possible opening date.
More development in Bellevue:
• Plans for a new medical official building at 8124 Sawyer Brown Road have been submitted to Metro.
• New pictures take us inside Bellevue's new high school. It's scheduled to open in August.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper announced on Tuesday he won’t for re-election. One name to watch, according to a political reporter, is former Mayor Megan Barry.
Metro recycling expands to every other week starting this week.
The Titans are switching to turf next season after an increase of injuries.
Bellevue’s state Senator Heidi Campbell joined a bill to legalize abortion in Tennessee, but it has almost no chance of passing in the Republican supermajority legislature.
Bellevue’s state Representative Bo Mitchell argued gender-affirming treatment for transgender children “will save lives,” but a bill to ban most of those treatments in Tennessee moved forward in the House Health Subcommittee.
